Publication Guidelines
Welcome to ‘KATHOPOKATHAN – ATIT O BARTAMAN’ We appreciate your interest in submitting your research to our journal. To ensure a smooth submission process and maintain the high standards of our publication, please carefully review and adhere to the following guidelines. Prospective authors are invited to submit original papers. Submissions will be judged on originality, significance, interest, clarity, relevance, correctness, and presentation.
1. Scope and Focus
KATHOPOKATHAN – ATIT O BARTAMAN is a double peer-reviewed journal of history. publishing scholarly research paper, review and survey articles on any aspect of History in both Bengali and English language. it features articles and reviews by experts, and invites contributions from all areas of history. The journal has resisted the trend toward increased specialization and offers an excellent way to keep up with developments across the discipline.
Submissions should contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field and align with the journal’s aim to disseminate high-quality, impactful research.
2. Manuscript Preparation
2.1 General Requirements
- Language: All manuscripts must be written in English or Bengali language.
- Originality: The manuscript must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- Word Count: Research articles: 4500-7000 words including the Reference section. Articles beyond 7000 words will also be considered. Book Reviews: Word limit: 1500-2500 words
- Format: Manuscripts should be prepared using Microsoft Word. We process the Ms Word files. Normally we do not accept pdf, images or any graphic content separately.
2.2 Manuscript Structure
- Title Page:
- Title of the manuscript (concise and informative)
- Full names, affiliations, designation and contact details of all authors
- Abstract: A concise summary of the research (200-250 words) that includes the objective, methods, results, and conclusions.
- Keywords: Provide 5-8 keywords that best describe the content of the manuscript.
- Main Text:
- Introduction: Brief background, the rationale for the study, and research objectives.
- Methods: Detailed methodology, including study design, data collection, and analysis methods.
- Results: Clear presentation of findings, with appropriate use of tables and figures.
- Discussion: Interpretation of results, implications, and comparison with existing literature.
- Conclusion: Summary of key findings and potential future research directions.
- References: Follow KATHOPOKATHAN – ATIT O BARTAMAN’s preferred citation style, (MLA). Ensure all references cited in the text are included in the reference list.
- Tables and Figures: Include these in the manuscript after the references section. Each table/figure should have a descriptive title and legend where applicable.
3. Submission Process
3.1 Online Submission

3.2 Peer Review Process
- Initial Screening: Submitted manuscripts are first evaluated by the editorial team for compliance with the journal’s scope and standards.
- Double-Blind Review: Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent for double-blind peer review, ensuring the anonymity of both authors and reviewers.
- Revisions: Based on reviewers’ feedback, authors may be required to revise their manuscript. Revised manuscripts should be resubmitted within the specified timeframe.
- Final Decision: The editorial team makes the final decision on acceptance, revision, or rejection based on the reviewers’ recommendations.
- Ethical Considerations
- Plagiarism: Authors must ensure their work is free from plagiarism. The journal uses plagiarism detection software to screen submissions.
- Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest in their manuscript.
- Ethical Approvals: Research involving human participants or animals must have obtained the necessary ethical approvals. Authors should include a statement of ethical approval in the manuscript.
4. Post-Acceptance
4.1 Proofs
After acceptance, authors will receive page proofs for final approval. Authors must review the proofs carefully and return them within 10 days. Only minor corrections are allowed at this stage.
4.2 Publication Fees
KATHOPOKATHAN – ATIT O BARTAMAN may charge a publication fee to cover the costs of open access, peer review, and production.

4.3 Open Access
The freely available articles increase the number of citations and the rapid promotion of knowledge worldwide. Authors and scholars working in a similar field can benefit from new trends in theory and practice while freely accessing and reading the articles from our journal’s webpage. Thus, the articles published in open-access journals have a higher frequency of citations and more chances of publicity through worldwide internet-based access. Such articles are published rapidly at a low cost, and researchers can get relatively faster access to new knowledge.
The articles published by KATHOPOKATHAN–ATIT O BARTAMAN are available publically and openly without making any payment to the journal. The articles can be accessed in full text anywhere in the world without prior permission from the corresponding author or the journal. Nevertheless, the researchers, scholars, and authors must cite the original author/s of the published articles appropriately.
The journal allows readers to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of its articles and allow readers to use them for any other lawful purpose. Nevertheless, the journal allows the author/s to hold the copyright and to retain publishing rights without restrictions.
